The Chesapeake Bay Impact Crater
Join NASA JPL Solar System Ambassador, Greg Redfern, for an engaging presentation. The world's 7th largest known impact crater is under the Chesapeake Bay at Cape Charles, VA. Hear the inside story, and view extremely rare geological samples from within CBIC. A jacket is recommended, and a flashlight is helpful. Free to all parkway visitors.

 - "The Peaks Under the Stars" - If the sky is clear after the presentation, our guests will move outdoors to the lawn area at the edge of the lake to see the night sky in all its glory while listening to sky lore and fascinating sky facts.

Learn about “life on the home front” during the Civil War for 1864 Appalachian Mountain families!

Visitors to the encampment will have the opportunity to listen to multiple points of view surrounding “Hunter’s Raid” including fictional families, accurate information regarding Confederate soldiers fighting a “delaying action”, and General David Hunter’s Union forces on their way to attack Lynchburg. It's sure to be a day of fun for historians and families alike.
